Comments Thread For: Photos: Erislandy Lara Drops and Dominates Trout

Barclays Center, Brooklyn - Erislandy Lara was too much for Austin Trout, as they battled for the interim WBA super welterweight belt. The scores were 118-109 and 117-110 twice for Lara. In the 11th, Lara unleashed a thudding left hand to the head, waking up the crowd and dropping Trout to the canvas. It was the icing on the cake for Lara’s dominant win, which upped his record to 19-1-2 with 12 KOs. Trout falls to 26-2 with 14 KOs.

The way trout fell reminded me of when someone dies from a gun shot in a movie, all dramatic

I feel bad for Trout man. Did you see his face when he dropped? And his face in the corner between rounds? You could tell he was done, mentally and physically.

Where does Trout go from here? He's at a crossroads in his career. Maybe he should fight someone like K9. He needs a win in the worst way.

Trout's a good fighter. Last night was a really tough stylistic match-up for him and he won't have many fights as tough as that one. If he gets walked down and stopped by an aggressive fighter, that would send his career south in a big way. But as it is, he's still a force to be reckoned with. Will he get the backing he needs is another story.
