If he doesn't want to fight the best at 154, he should stick to 147.

Lara would've probably done roughly the same numbers as Maidana with some good promotion + a solid undercard and it would have been a credible fight in everyone's eyes, against a style Floyd hasn't faced in a long time.
He did said he wouldn't move up again after the Canelo fight, so yes, they will likely strips his 154lbs titles.

    • Floyd is an opportunist. He's probably hoping that Cotto beats Martinez just so he can have a rematch with him in September for the WBC Middleweight belt, but I'd be the only Floyd fan on here who wouldn't give him credit if he were to take the cheap way out to win a belt in six weight division. Cotto has never fought anyone at 160lbs prior to fighting Martinez, whereas, Martinez has a better resume at 160lbs than Cotto and GGG, and a "W" over him would make Floyd's resume look great.

      • Floyd is such a joke that people say I very much doubt Floyd fights Lara when Lara isn't the new Hearns or something.

If your the best you have to fight who people want you to fight. If your not fighting Pac, GGG, Sergio and all the other people because they are with the wrong promotional companies, you are just going to be seen as a joke which Floyd is, he basically writes every opponent off for one reason or another.

Fans aren't calling for this fight tho except hardcore ones on here.

It is a joke. He's already a millionaire and his remaining fights don't have to be all money fights. He can even reduce his $40 million guarantee so that Showtime/GBP don't have to worry about not selling enough PPVs to cover it. Funny thing is, Canelo, who wants money fights just as much as millionaire Floyd, can't even make the same excuse without being accused of ducking Lara.

Millionaire Floyd is excused for not fighting Lara because it's not a money fight, while Canelo is not excused for not fighting Lara. Wtf is that?

It is a joke, but like they mentioned before, Floyd only fights at 54 when there is a lot money in it

              • So what is it? Millionaire Floyd is not fighting Lara because it's not a money fight. Yet Canelo, who wants money fights just as much as millionaire Floyd does, can't make the same excuse without being accused of avoiding Lara.

                • How interesting is it that back at 130 Mayweather had another great Cuban boxer he should have fought but didnt'. Now in 2014 Mayweather has another great Cuban boxer in Lara and it seems like Mayweather is avoiding him.
