  • Comments Thread For: Barker's Trainer: Darren May Never Be in The Ring Again

Darren Barker lost his IBF middleweight title to Felix Sturm after being stopped in the second round at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart on Saturday night. The 31-year-old Londoner was twice knocked to the canvas in round two, and moments later trainer Tony Sims threw in the towel to end his man's misery.

As happy as I am too see Felix regain it's sad that Barker may have to retire without even getting a chance at a rematch in England

Yeah. It's one thing to lose against a superior fighter, but to have a possibly career-ending injury in the same fight is like a nightmare. Poor guy. Just when he was feeling on top of the world.

I wonder what all these hip problems are from. Pretty uncommon injury for a boxer. I wonder if it's something he was doing in the gym or if its just how hes built.

They mentioned it was something from birth.

He probably know best for his fighter....let's get someone to tell RJ that.

This is pretty depressing , I guess we'll never see a round-robin between Berker, Macklin, Lee and Murray. At least he was able to earn a title and a couple paychecks.

Barker has a long list of injury problems, some of which are serious and it's a shame.

He's a solid fighter, 2nd best British MW behind Murray I reckon, but these injuries have really gotten in the way.
