I guess he's not a household name anywhere but Asia.

Actually shocked, but I guess everyone has their time.. he's a credit to his people.
aka the reality bandwagon. john fought a hometown strategy of barely doing anything but doing enough not to be dominated so the judges gave it to him.

Interesting opinion, but I had that fight a draw. 114-112 John with those two strange point deductions. Weirdly enough, Scott Mallon, the only Western Journalist there (writes for a few known publications including the RING) agreed with the UD for Chris John.

Marquez didn't look great in that fight, but it's just a fight thats sensationally prone to revisionism.

The guys who scored he fight for John should've been fired from the the ring magazine. That was a awful scorecard and I could give two ****s who he works for. It doesn't make him right. He's probably another guy that was swayed by he hometown crowd.

Well sure, if you don't agree thats cool. But theres a lot of people who think John won that fight too. Or a draw at the very least. That doesn't spell robbery to me.

9-3 and 9-4 were too wide and the point deduction may have been a little unfair, but I don't think Marquez beat John clearly. It was a close fight and could have gone either way.

w/all the hiding he's been doing in Indonesia/Australia it was bound that finally caught a live 1...a very over-rated champ in that he would never come out of hiding 2 challenge the elite of his division, regardless of the world body they were in...

Definitely a shocker. Can't wait to see this on YouTube.

John was for sure a credit to his people. But he was overrated too, no way is he the best featherweight of all time.

Wow people actually like John? The guy that has basically only fought mandatories with no hope. The guy who held his belt hostage in Asia. The guy who has never tried to get a Unification Match. John isn't bad but to really try and claim he is the best Featherweight of all time is an insult to Willie Pep, Salvador Sanchez, Armstrong, Hamed, Jeffra, Marquez, Morales, Barrera, Pacquiao and many other Featherweights. And his win against Marquez was not even close to decisive and was closer to being a robbery against Marquez then anything.
