Comments Thread For: Photos: Solis Shocks Kameda: Tomoki, Takayama Win

Liborio Solis won a twelve round split decision over Daiki Kameda in Osaka, but there was no super flyweight unification because Solis failed to make weight on Monday. Solis lost his WBA title on the scale, and now the WBA belt is vacant. Judge Robert Hoyle had Kameda winning by 115-113, both Joe Garcia and Valerie Dorsett scored it 116-112 for Solis. Kameda keeps his IBF title because he was beaten by a fighter who did not come in as a super flyweight.

if a fighter doesn't make weight and wins, that's hardly a win in my book.

My thoughts too. Glad he has no title now because he could have been a unified champ.

I remember back in the days("80's" &"90's") if in a title fight the challenger did not make the weight, it would be a non title fight, then it was that if the challenger didn't make the weight & the champion lost, the title would become vacant & now it's sort of confusding cause if the challenger doesn't make the weight & wins the champion still keeps the title, ¿so is it still considered a title fight, would it count as a defence if Kameda would have won?
