Who is/was the biggest risk-taker in the sport? Past and Present.

In light of floyd\pacquiao duckfest from both sides, I was thinking of making a "What are some other big ducks in boxing?" but thought I should give this a more positive spin.

So who has been the biggest risk-taker in the sport? By this I mean a fighter who took on the biggest challenge, when everyone doubted him?

Out of the present fighters I'd put down Danny Garcia taking the khan and Matthysse fights. He was written off by almost everyone for both. Other honourable mentions go out to Andre Ward when he signed up for the super-six. However the fights were located favourably for him. So perhaps Froch deserves more credit.

What do you guys think? I've only been a big fan of the sport for about 5 years so going back I only know about what fights happened and how they ended, not who was favoured.

        Manny Pacquiao

Look at his résumé and you'll see mostly elite names in the past 10 years sprinkled with a small number of easier fights.

No one else has that list.

Once upon a time, young Manny tried to knock Barrera, Marquez and Morales off all within a year.

He didnt succeed, but he was once much more reckless in his schedule.

Of all time id say its Ali. Ill mention Toney and Nelson too though, least they get overlooked.

Mayweather of course is the one with the most balls,Outside the heavyweight division, how many fighters out their fighting quality opponents that out weight them by 14-20 pounds.Floyd fought Ortiz coming off a year lay off and Ortiz outweighted him by 14 pounds, and is fast a south Paw and many people were saying Floyd will never fight Ortiz;Floyd fought a blazing fast and skilled Delahoya who out-weighed Floyd by 15-20 pounds and FLoyd came in at 150 on fight night,And Floyd was declining by the time he met Dela hoya;Floyd fought Canelo who out weighed him by 15 pounds and Floyd came in at 150 on fight night, and Canelo is a very skilled fighter, and many people thought Floyd would never take that fight;Floyd at 16 and 0 fought Tony Pep who was 6`1 and with a huge reach advantage over Floyd;Floyd at 17-0 fought Genero Hernandez who was one of the top fighters at super featherweight, many people felt Floyd was biting off more then he can chew because Floyd did not have a lot of experience;Floyd fought Diego Corrales in a fight where most thought Floyd was gonna get ko`ed,Floyd fought Castillo with hurt shoulders in a fight that was a controversial decision,Floyd then gave him an immediate rematch which was very risky for Floyd`s career; And Floyd fought in five weight classes and in every weight class he fought the number one ranked opponent.you can`t say he ducked Pac-juice because in the first negotiations he offered pacquiao 50/50 even though Pac didn`t deserve it but pac turned it down because he didn`t want to take a random drug test; You can`t say he ducked Cotto cause he called Cotto out back in 05 but Arum said Cotto wasn`t ready; You can`t say he ducked overrated Margarito, because Floyd chose to fight fighters who were ranked above him and Margarito got his ass beat by Daniel Santos and Paul williams.
