People seem to think that it's going be the same martinez in the murray fight.

The long lay off is going to do wonders for martinez and I see him coming back stronger. Cotto's just too freaking small. He was too small for Trout. He's going to be too small for martinez.

Why is Arum involved with this?

Actually I agree with you. But if Sergio is anthing like he was in the Murray fight I would give Miguel more than a punchers chance.

The only way I see him taking Canelo, is if he has a shot at Mayweather next in the contract should he win the Canelo fight. Then again Schaefer is just as shady as Arum is and it wouldn't surprise me if he said he wouldn't do business with Cotto unless he took the Canelo fight. I doubt it, but the money is the only thing Golden Boy has much leverage on. The fight would be in Vegas, Cotto would rather it be in New York obviously. The judges tried to rob Floyd ffs, Cotto could win 10-8 every round and still lose, fact.

Canelo does nothing for his legacy, he would Vargas if you ask me good fighter but he stepped into the ring with Oscar and Tito too soon, same story with Canelo. Beating the lineal MW champion of the world, 4 division champ and the first one for Puerto Rico. So yes, the money is much better against Canelo but Cotto has got quite a lot already and invested it well. It isn't like he is only going to make 3 or 4 million with Martinez, he has a decent following himself and Mexicans will buy this fight as well albeit not as many. Also if he loses to Sergio (closely) he could blame the weight and probably get the Canelo fight. If he were to win, he could get Floyd next and again still have the option of a Canelo fight after that if he wants to. Still... 6-8 million and the legacy for Sergio (and still have Canelo and Floyd as options) or 10 million for Canleo with no hometown advantage, questionable judging and a lower quality win.

He won't get $10 million against Canelo if he loses. So he might be throwing that opportunity away for "legacy."

            It's his prerogative though.

Trout is bigger than Sergio, I think... Still Trout doesn't fight with his head in perfect jabbing range and Trout was in his prime and undefeated it's a different mentality for both men. Cotto didn't get outclassed by any means and he was not prepared for that fight like he was for Floyd and would be prepared for Sergio.

Really would like Cotto - Maravilla, two of the great ring warriors and most respected fighters of modern times, but there's is something that'll leave me dissatisfied if the lineal MW title were to switch hands at a catchweight when there's a genuine #1 MW contender waiting in the wings.

Martinez has grown into the middleweight division, he may not be taller but he's stronger and I'll bet his punch is a LOT bigger than trout's.

cotto definitely has more than a punchers chance but if it's the same old martinez could spell trouble for cotto

That's one of the reasons I like Cotto. He might act snotty if he loses a fight but he will never back down from a fight or avoid a fighter. He is a true warrior but I'm riding with Martinez if this fight gets made. I say Sergio stops Cotto with the straight left and uppercut doing major damage. He will have a lot to prove with all the talk of him being finished and Cotto's lack of reach will be very influential.

Another source pointed out to me,"(Cotto) didn't make that much for Mayweather." Both sources would be involved in Cotto-Martinez
