    Golden by vs. Top Rank

In this era so many fights have not come to fruition due to promotional conflict, no need to mention the fights as we are all well aware.

My question is why are the big television networks puppets to these promotional companies, surly they have the resources to cut out these middle men and do everything in-house.

I know this method could cause the same thing with various networks, but I do feel they would pit their fighters against one another in split promotions and some sort of deal could be worked out as they are all about making money and not so worried about putting money in their competitors pockets especially if they are lining their own at the same time.

I would like to know people’s opinions on this, I was told ESPN tried this but was way before my time, would be interested in knowing others thought on this and the positive and negative things that could come from such a structure.

networks are not ****** to the promoters...they have a lot of input on opponents, however, the networks do not have the means nor interest to take on the duties of a promoter. they pay for fights and air them.

        It's more complicated than networks.

Delahoya/Mayweather left Arum and Arum was left out of the biggest fight in boxing history.

Mayweather left HBO for Showtime/GBP and HBO got sour g****s and then blacklisted all of GBP's fighters, missing out on the second biggest PPV event in history, going to Showtime.

        - This is much deeper than the simple HBO vs Showtime beef of the 90s where even though promoters had networks they were closer with, big fights were still made
