This is all about Showtime finally realizing they're not making any profit off of Mayweather fights. It's a huge mistake. $250 million is no small amount for only five fights. That doesn't even include promotional expenses. And the shocking thing for them is they're still required to support him with strong, expensive undercards to accomplish the needed PPV goals. Man that's like buying a tv with faulty speakers, and you still have to buy separate ones.
Not to mention the opponent's usual $2 million plus purse. They probably didn't even make a profit in the heavily promoted Canelo/May fight. Huge question now is where are they going to find another Canelo in their backyard?
