When you reach a certain level of success it is bound that people will try to bring you down. Instead he should embrace his past and the fact that he has gotten passed it and is doing something with himself.

^^^^^^This right here, use it to teach the young people that you can turn ya life around. Hiding it from them only makes you seem fake and that will make them ignore any good advice you give them. Racism is everywhere dude, you can't hide from it just press on.
