Actually, Baldomir was the universally recognized and lineal welterweight champ when Floyd fought him. Margarito was attempting to rebuild himself after losing to Daniel Santos. And after a few wins, lost to an untested prospect named Paul Williams. The only time Margarito was considered the #1 welterweight ws after he smashed Cotto's face in with bricks. But then he proceeded to get KTFO by Mosley, who Floyd fought immediately afterwards. There's a lil history lesson for ya. Floyd didn't have a cherry picking problem. Margarito had a "kept losing" problem. Butt anywoo. Those are mere triflin facts. Carry on.

margarito had one loss in ten years when floyd ducked him and that was a fight at 154 which most people thought he won.

Floyd took the belt from Baldomir, who took it from Judah, who took it from Spinks, who took it from Mayorga, who took it from Forrest, who took it from Mosley, who took it from DLH. Margarito's belt was a paper trinket he won vacant in a fight with Antonio Diaz. Clearly, Baldomir's title's lineage lines up with what reflected the top of the welterweight division. Not refuting the ranking, just refuting the intent behind your statement. Margs was never the man at 147 pounds, ever. Where was Tony when Vernon was there? Where was Tony when Cory was there? Where was Tony when Zab was there? He was recovering from losses! The men I just named were the actual Guys to beat in the weight class. When Zab became the man at 147, Carlos knocked him off the thrown. Floyd then came in and beat the both of them, then Margarito went on to get beatdown by a no name who later became Paul Williams.

Ward has just ran through a gauntlet of talented opponents. Rodriguez was top 10 FFS.

They werent dangerous beast, they were paydays that would help make him more mainstream. He went directly to those two fights, and haters accused him of ducking the fighters who were in between. Floyd ducked two fighters; Mosley and Pacman. But they both ducked him first, and he ducked them in return. BUT he still ducked. But all atg's have ducked one or two fighters. SRR ducked two fighters from the murderers row. And SRL had a habit of cherrypickin, and ducked Hagler rematch. Then padded his record with meaningless rematches and trilogies with everyone except Hagler.

except he didn't. he turned down 8 mill to fight margarito then 3 months later accepted 8 mill to fight baldomir. if he was waiting to fight hoya why did he take this fight? cause baldomir sucks! easy 8 million dollars! margarito wasn't an easy 8 million dollars so he said no thanks.

floyd fought sharmba mitchell. was sharmba mitchell ranked #1? no margarito was.

floyd fought zab judah. was zab judah ranked #1? no margarito was.

then he retired when cotto and margarito were dominating the division. he had plenty of chances to fight margarito. he wasn't just waiting around for super fights. he was waiting around in cherry picker mode.
