How Co e Kovalev lowered his workrate?

Im not dssing his performance but looking at we should take him and espexially his trainer John David Jackson more seriously.

If you watch the Nathan clev fight, Kovalev threw 90+ punches per round.

This one he threw no where near that. Is that due to the fact that The black Russian has better movement or is it due to a game plan of John david to slowly close the gap and time the punch rather than the break down volume sergey did against Nathan?

    Thoughts?

round 1 he was feeling him out. Also Sillakh was showing decent movement in round 1 so Kovalev probably didn't want to just blindly waste punches.

        Timing.

Silakh uses a lot of unecessary movement and had a predictable rhythm. Kovelev used the first round to study him and figure him out. Once the second round started he was able to time him coming in and get him out of there.

Kovalev is a smart boxer with good skills who just happens to have good power.
