Those of you who think that

GG could beat Kovalev are truly mistaken.

He's a better pure boxer than GG, he's bigger than GG, and he hits too hard for GG. Now I know one is a mw and the other is a lhw, but some tried to blow up what GG's trainer was saying about their sparring in the past saying...Kov was scared, and scared to throw, and that Kov was backing up and all of that crap.

Please. Kov told a different story.

Kov imo is one of the best talents in boxing. Even ole Hop will find it difficult to beat Kov. I love this guys style. Heavy hands, cuts the ring off. He saw Silla moving a lot so he attacked the body with jabs and straight rights. That's what floyd does...wink wink lol.

Sure he lost round 1, but he ended it in round two. All I need from Kov is to see him in the ring against an opponent who will give as good as he gets to see if Kov is truly the goods. He has the talent, but comp is the only thing he is lacking right now. Hopefully he gets some big fights soon.

    Good performance tonight.

First of all even his trainer didn't say all that b.s. about him backing up or anything in sparring. All he said was Kovalev didn't have the killer instinct in sparring versus Golovkin necessary for Golovkin to get proper work. The trainer said this was due to either fear or respect but who knows what it could have been, Kovalev may have just not wanted to work hard that day. Point is, Kovalev would annihilate GG as he punches way too hard and is too accurate

Yeah I don't see it at all, I like both though and I'm glad the sport is producing these kind of talents.

By GG you mean Golovkin, don't you?
If "Yes", then I guess that you have already noticed that both fighters come from the same "old Russian school of boxing"... I.e. they share the same solid fundamentals and they are both hard hitting... Golovkin works better to the body, but Kovalev is bigger and stronger, or course...

Pretty sure it wasn't a fight many were thinking of anyway.

Golovkin is by far the better all round puncher with the better defense, pressure tactics, backfoot work, bodywork, timing and range finding.. he is better in all those department and if you don't see it you're blind...

Kovalev tries to land big punches from the outside and doesn't set it up with much but he has been lucky enough to land those thunderous punches on lesser fighters...

Can't see why people would favour Kovalev in this fight

It's funny that people would want to match Golovkin with Kovalev -- as long as Andre Ward is somewhere in between them...

The true issue is rather more complicated: lately, a significant number of solid fighters, emerged from the "former Soviet block school", came to fight in the U.S...
Lomachenko, Provodnikov, Golovkin, Kovalev, Usyk, etc...

Now, who (from the U.S.) is actually fighting those guys? Bradley (who was dropped by Prov), and Stevens (who was stopped by Golovkin)... Others? Some "Latinos", of course...
