  • Comments Thread For: Garcia: Maidana's Workrate Could Be Broner's Downfall

Most experts who pick Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31KOs) to upset WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22KOs) - are picking the Argentine puncher to win by knockout. Maidana will challenge Broner for his championship on December 14th, as part of a Showtime televised quadrupleheader from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

After watching Broner have some struggles against Paulie Malignaggi in June, when Broner moved up by two weight divisions, the Oxnard-based trainer says Maidana is very capable of outworking Broner to win a twelve round decision.

I hope so! I just think speed will be a big difference in this fight in favor of Broner. Who knows though... All I want to see is how will Broner react when Maidana connects a flush shot.

Can Broner trade with Maidana? It seems that Broner would have to box Maidana the way Garcia did with Matthysse; hit, move a way and walk the ring. Broner always walks down his opponents but Maidana is usually the stalker. I can't imagine Broner just standing there trading with Maidana. Alexander beat Maidana because he never came to fight. He clinched his way to a victory with a blind ref on his side. Broner could do the same but he wouldn't look good. There's no doubt that Broner will land his shots because he's fast but will he be able to hurt Maidana who seems to have a good chin? And if he can't hurt Maidana, how is he going to stop him? One thing is for sure, if Maidana lands something flush, then Broner is in trouble. Malignaggi was never hurt by Broner and he took dozens of good shots so that's the main question, can Broner hurt Maidana?

Maybe I don't pay enough attention, but has Maidana's workrate ever been anything special? I guess if he keeps Broner frozen enough, but can't see that happening.

Maidana will win if his punches are inflicting damage and making Broner shell up.

He has a decent jab now. Could play dividends.

Now that you mention it, Paulie did eat all of Broner's best shots. Can't see him walking Maidana down on a hill.

maidana doesn't have the work rate of leo santa cruz or the margarito of old...if he can fight that way he can win,non stop punching,of course you have to be in great great condition to fight like that, prepare for 12 hard rounds, the good thing for maidana is that broner doesn't move much,so he'll be right there in front of him, cant wait for this one,the whole card is good
