I love how raw and real mike is. And to some extent I agree lower class fighters but then those guys are the most passionate since they have full time jobs already in most cases and boxing ends up being more of a hobby adiction .

I remember reading or hearing an interview about Miguel Cotto that he doesn't follow boxing and only really fights for himself and his family. He doesn't follow the rankings or what goes down because he doesn't care so much. That's interesting considering where he stands amongst fight fans.

I watched a lot of interviews etc to realize the same thing. Floyd Mayweather for example isnt passionate about Boxing. Numerous times he said in interviews that he only fights for the check and doesnt care much about legacy, his Dad forced him into the sport and used to beat him up when he didnt want to train so i can understand him. Pacquaio said that he never dreamt about being a boxing legend but simply boxed so his family ad something to eat, Roy Jones and Shane Mosley both wanted to become Basketball players but realized their lack of size would make it impossible so they turned to Boxing. Most Boxers got into the sport cause their Dads forced them or it offered them a way out of poverty and was a cheap sport to do since all u need is a pair of Gloves and a Gym membership.
Sugar Ray Robinson, arguably the GOAT said he hates Boxing and hurting people anddid it for money.
Rocky Marciano and George Foreman wanted to play Baseball and turned to Boxing later.

But i think there are some elite fighters today and from the past that got into Boxing because they really love the sport like
Sergio Martinez, who gave up Soccer and Cycling
Sugar Ray Leonard, idolized Ali as a kid and wanted to be like him
Julio Cesar Chavez jr, grew up in million dollar mansions but still followed his Dad into the sport
Amir Khan, watch Ring Life HBO
        GGG
Wladmir Klitschko, said he fell in love with Boxing after Brewster and Sanders iced him
Kenny Norton, turned down D1 Scholarships to concentrate on his Boxing career
Felix Sturm said in a german interview that his whole family was against him when he started to Box but sticked to it cause he loved it from day 1
        Tim Bradley, watch 24/7

With that state Tyson is in, you never know which version will show up. Not taking digs, but he's a complete mess. Its always going to be a different story based on how he was feeling that day.

Since most elite boxers are egotistical i guess they just check where they rank p4p and in their weight classes and log off. I think Joshua Clottey wanted to be a soccer player as well but figured boxing was less competitive.

I think Mike is a hell of a lot farther along now than he used to be. He's grown up a lot and makes better decisions. I didn't care for him in the past, but I've come to like the version that we have today.
