    Froch deserved to get booed.

and he wasn't very smart about it. He should have jumped on the bandwagon and got angry at the ref for stopping the fight early cause it prevented him from getting a spectacular KO highlight reel

This happens too often in boxing, fans hold fighters responsible for referees and judges decisions. Bradley a case in point.

Owen is right though, when it comes to sport we as a nation prefer glorious failure over winning. I don't necessarily think that's a terrible thing, but booing the winner is a step too far.

He could've been more diplomatic, but he has a responsibility to be honest and call it as he sees it, he's a fighter not a bandwagon fan.

For Americans wondering who "Owen" is, see below:

Perhaps Froch was denied of a legitimate stoppage. Perhaps Groves was. Groves most certainly could continue, don't be silly.

Maybe he should have just said that he felt he'd been robbed of a legit stoppage win and they could get it on again. But he didn't - it was orchestrated to get the fans back on his side after a pretty bad display.
Groves absolutely dominated Froch in the early rounds; he made Froch look like an immobile old man. However, from round 6, Groves was blowing hard and Froch was coming on strong. The fight was only going one way: a Froch stoppage.

Yah it's a shame that humility and humble are not in his dictionary. Had he played his cards right, he would have not only won the fight, he would have won the crowd over AND lest we not forget whom he went home with. But fans of Froch love him for the same reason his haters dislike him and that is his unwithering machismo. Froch will never openly admit to being beat until he get's knocked clean out and even than I imagine he will find a way to make an excuse as to why we should disregard the knockout.

What the multi millionaire, race horse owning Owen may not appreciate is that working class men spent up to a weeks wages on a fight that was robbed of a conclusive ending by a poor ref who acted on reputation rather than the situation.

I'm not so sure. Carl was finding the target a little more, but go back and look at round 7 & 8 - Groves was still in control of the fight with his jab and right hands. Froch got some success in the 8th and in the 9th, but it wasn't as if Groves just took punches in those rounds. He caught Carl as well.

Groves chin & heart is unproven which is what makes you say that. If the roles had been reversed you would have said it was the worst stoppage in history and there was no way Groves would have stopped Carl from that little flurry. Because we know Froch is warrior with a granite chin. and he recuperates immensely fast. We don't know that about Groves. Maybe he's the same. He's a tough guy.

All in all, I'm not sure if Carl would have stopped him. Maybe he would. But it doesn't really matter because he didn't. The referee made a bs decision.

Just FYI, Owen came from the epitome of a working class home in Chester.

I think the main reason Froch got booed is because he is a narcissistic self righteous twat. there is not one ounce of humility in his body. I have seen interviews where he refers to himself as a living legend.
You could tell that he was reluctant to give Groves any credit at all for his performance.

It is a pity because Carl has some qualities that could potentially make him a very likeable fighter. His willingness to fight anyone, superb conditioning, great punch resistance and ability to dig are usually traits of a peoples champ.
He definately did not do himself any favours on the weekend.
Groves on the other hand went way up in my reckoning. Both as a fighter and as a person. I hope he gets his rematch.
