Promoters Don King and Vladimir Hryunov had a meeting in Panama, with the World Boxing Association, to discuss the details of the cruiserweight rematch between Guillermo "El Felino" Jones (39-3-2, 31KOs) and Denis Lebedev (25-2, 19KOs), being targeted for a February date in Moscow, Russia.

Last month, during the WBA's annual convention, the sanctioning body stripped Jones of his world title and returned it to Lebedev. The ruling was made after Jones tested positive for furosemide (a weight cutting agent) following his eleventh round knockout of Lebedev on May 17 in Russia. After the belt was returned to Lebedev, Jones was installed as the mandatory challenger to the title.

Correct me if i am wrong, but to my understanding Lebedev was given back his WBA belt and is the champion because of Jones failing a drug test and was ordered to defend it against Jones who is the mandatory not that he personally picked it he has been forced to defend his belt by the sanctioning body.

You are correct, though Jones is only the "mandatory" in the sense that the WBA have ordered an immediate rematch. Lets not forget, Jones was supposedly caught by the Russian anti-doping federation, which is barely recognised by WADA atm for being very su****ious.

Did you even watch the fight? Lebedev was in full control from rounds 1-6 until the eye started swelling badly. The only reason he lost that fight was because his team did not have an endswell. He was landing at a very high percentage and hitting Jones with several clean shots. Jones just has an incredible chin.
