  • Comments Thread For: Antonio Tarver vs. Mike Sheppard Early Results

A pair of debutants made quick work of their opponents on the non-televised undercard. Dennis Galarza and Erickson Lubin both scored 1st round knockouts in their first piece of ring action since signing pro contracts with Iron Mike Productions less than two months ago.

Galarza (1-0, 1KO) managed to get in a full three minutes of work before forcing a stoppage of hapless Harold Torres (0-4-1). Lubin was brief and emphatic with his introduction to the pro ranks. The 18-year old, touted as the best amateur on the U.S. boxing scene prior to turning pro, needed just 35 seconds to take out Puerto Rico's Eric Dejesus (1-1, 1KO). [Click Here To Read More]

I look forward to some day seeing that arrogant unbeaten Prick Thomas Williams get counted out. Sticking his tongue out like a 6 year old in a playground, dude need to grow the *** up. Slow as molasses and easy to hit - will enjoy seeing him knocked out.

I thought Tarver looked alright. It took him a few rounds to find his timing and range but when he did, he landed a sweet undercut on Sheppard and was able to finish him off.

That said, I don't see Tarver being able to compete with the 'elite' fighters of the hw division.

Tarver looks fat as fcuk! I mean wow! I'm surprised he was able to move around without getting winded. It just didn't look right. His frame isn't meant to carry around that much weight. Even then he'll still probably be able to compete against the top guys in the heavyweight division seeing as how weak it is. He should fight someone like Arreola, a guy who can put punches together and really test him. If he gets past him, then he might be relevant in the division. He might actually be pretty decent until he gets to the Klitchskos, then its his first KO loss followed by retirement.

Tarver looked like a damn Frog. Thin arms and legs with a Fat torso.....doesn't make him a heavyweight.

I was thinking he should fight Leo Nolan, Roman Greenburg or Lou Savarese.

                  He's 45 and he's no George Foreman.

I guess he has illusions of beating good heavyweights just like his son Roy Jones did.

He's just too old these days and should just seek easy paychecks.
