Comments Thread For: Pacquiao's Win Over Rios Overshadowed By Tax Dilemma

Manny Pacquiao took the first step towards exorcising past ring demons with a 12-round whitewash of Brandon Rios this past Saturday in Macau.

However, the blow delivered to him in the aftermath could prove more devastating than the one that initially forced him on the comeback trail.

Pacquiao was anticipating a hero’s welcome in his native Philippines, along with a planned visit to the areas suffering the most damage from Typhoon Kaiyan. One of the most severe typhoons on record, the disaster ripped through the nation’s center, killing more than 5,200 people and displacing another 3 million people from their homes. So they did the same thing in 2010 and he won. Sounds like their trying to squeeze money out of him.

So he donated 18M and owes taxes too? He better take that money back.

He doesn't need to pay taxes to both countries according to a treaty. So what's the problem?

how does he still think he hired the right people to help him with this. Koncz is fired right? So now May and Pac have been ****d by taxes huh, damn. Seems Pac is in bigger trouble since his assests been frozen though. To bad Pac doesn't get tax breaks from the boom he creates for the economy during his fights. Crazy that he would need like three fights just to break even, or 1 mayweather fight.

But seems can all be fixed if he proves he already payed those taxes. So Koncz better have that paper work. This could be nothing.

Ouch... I remember a lot of Pac fans crying that Mayweather owed a few million in taxes..

It will be funny to see all of them crying about Pac now. Then again, Pac's career at this point is one big bowl of irony.

However hopefully he doesn't have to pay a dime. He earned every bit of what he has.

I'm guessing 18M pesos. Which is about 500k.
