There seems to be alot of criticism directed at Manny Pacquiao for not getting the knockout over Rios, which Is a little surprising considering Rios has an amazing chin(which Is an understatement). Manny put on a beautiful boxing display, landed beautiful hard combinations and was lightning fast and had good footwork, so I guess my question Is what would Mayweather have done against Rios that Pacquiao didn't or couldn't do.
What would Mayweather have done that Pacman didn't do

I wouldn't say there is 'a lot' of criticism directed at Pacquaio. I would say there is a little simply because Pacquiao is known as a devastating puncher and Roach was talking about a 4th rd KO win. Where in actual fact, Rios didn't look like he would have been stopped if the fight went another 8 rounds. There seems to be alot of criticism directed at Manny Pacquiao for not getting the knockout over Rios, which Is a little surprising considering Rios has an amazing chin(which Is an understatement). Decent comeback win for Pacquiao though. -
He wouldn't have got hit as much in the first four rounds. Manny got clipped quite a bit early on. He sure as hell wouldn't be looking to the ref for help on the inside either. There seems to be alot of criticism directed at Manny Pacquiao for not getting the knockout over Rios, which Is a little surprising considering Rios has an amazing chin(which Is an understatement). That apart, not much. It actually reminded me of a a Floyd fight in that Rios stopped letting his hands go because of how effectively Manny was countering him. Manny landed more damaging combinations than Floyd would in that situation as well. He wasn't walking into fire the way he once would, but was still taking more risk in exchanges than Floyd ever does.Comment

Nothing much to be honest. Manny fought a Floyd style fight just with more combination punching. Rios' counters are so slow and telegraphed that even Floyd may have thrown a lot of combinations against him. It was a complete shut out by Pacquiao. I don't see what criticisms could be made. He minimized the amount of damage he took while still beating Rios up.Comment

Floyd would have landed more cleanly with far more consistency, especially since Floyd knows how to fight on the inside. That would have been the difference there. There seems to be alot of criticism directed at Manny Pacquiao for not getting the knockout over Rios, which Is a little surprising considering Rios has an amazing chin(which Is an understatement). Manny fought a smart fight and won. Anywhere else in the world winning this way is fine. Here on NSB, winning this way is criticiized.I think the criticism is not directed at manny but at posters who for years criticized boring boxing for not being exciting and criticizing floyd, bhop, ward for not "going for the ko" then changing their tune in the aftermath of the manny/rios fight. There seems to be alot of criticism directed at Manny Pacquiao for not getting the knockout over Rios, which Is a little surprising considering Rios has an amazing chin(which Is an understatement). Floyd wouldn't have done anything different.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 11-26-2013, 01:17 PM.Comment
