In terms of matchup, I'd rather see Cotto-Canelo. Style wise these two make for a very interesting/intriguing fight. But again, I value significance over matchup in this particular case so I'd like to see this one after Martinez.
My thoughts exactly, I think Cotto/Canelo makes for a better fight style wise, but 4 titles in 4 different divisions and to be the first from your country to do it is way more important. Take out the money and your either facing the lineal MW or some kid who just got schooled by Mayweather for 12 rounds. Canelo is nearly sucking Cotto off asking for that fight, if he wants it this bad now it will always be there. Especially since no one for Canelo to fight is PPV worthy and he got locked up for 3 already... amazing what happens when you LOSE to Floyd Mayweather. Unless it is Cotto I promise you Canelo's next PPV won't break 300k.

Canelo isn't always there WTF? Canelo is 23 where exactly is he going? Sergio is 38 and breaking down fast, there is only 1 fighter that is on his way out.

if cotto beat martinez, he'll be lineal champ at 160, then he can get the lion's share against the ginger. The ginger will still want the cotto fight because cotto is the 3rd biggest draw in boxing.

I rather see Cotto-Canelo... That would be a great fight; also, I struggle to pick a winner in that one.

Martinez-Cotto? Good, but not nearly as entertaining as the former matchup... Cotto fans want it because they seem to be sure that Cotto would defeat Martinez and get a title in his 4th weight class, but I think that Martinez would win a clear decision over Cotto.

This fight is a pick em fight. If you judge them from how both performed against the best fighter in the world, it could go either way. Cotto had more success on an offensive level than Canelo vs Floyd. However Canelo proved tougher and more durable because Cotto seemed just about ready to go in the final round.

Cotto is going to have to take the steam out of Canelo early and often. But Canelo is young enough to possibly take Cotto's fire and return some of his own. I'm fairly certain that whichever of these guys brings the best stamina will win. Cause both have horrible stamina.

As a huge Cotto fan I would love to see Cotto fight for the lineal MW Title. That said, I don't know if he could beat Sergio. Even this version with a bum leg. I know a lot of people think Sergio is done but he's been fighting some tough Euros with peek-a-boo styles that are difficult to hit flush. Yet still he's managed to pull out tough wins. Cotto has elite skill and he can possibly mitigate Sergio's foot speed with a simple jab but I don't know.... Sergio is gifted. Both are old, both aren't 100% of what they were, both are superb boxers with elite level skill. That usually makes for a real entertaining fight at this stage of a career arch. Canelo will still be there. He needs to take on Lara, it's an in house fight and beating Lara would really say something about Canelo being ready for prime time talent. Floyd made him look basic.

Both are good, depends on how you see it though. He's not going to fight any of those two guys. I'll be shocked if he does.
