Comments Thread For: Crawford: I Expect a Hungrier Ricky Burns If We Fight

Lightweight contender Terence Crawford could soon be challenging for a world title. The World Boxing Organization has mandated negotiations between him and beltholder Ricky Burns.

They have through the first week of December to come to terms, or else the match will go to purse bid.

That would be a good start to 2014 for Crawford after a very good 2013. He made his HBO debut in March with a decision win over Breidis Prescott, returned to HBO in June to score a technical knockout over Alejandro Sanabria, then appeared on the network for his third time in October, outpointing Andrey Klimov. burns is holding that belt hostage, if this fight gets made it will be in scotland which means crawford will loose courtesy of fixroom promotions.

And we expect the fight not to happen.

Good tactical fight but I think Crawford has a few more tools in his chest. I don't at all see a war, needless to say.

            Burns-Beltran hasn't been confirmed.

In fact, while here's one report from the Daily Record saying it's Burns-Beltran on Feb. 8 — http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/b...s-gets-2811567 — there's this report from the Scotsman saying it's Burns-Crawford on Feb. 8 — http://www.scotsman.com/sport/more-s...ence-1-3194936

And nothing has been announced as official yet.

If the fight is held in Scotland I hope Crawford can get a fair shake. Don't want to see him get Beltran'd.

Not burns fault about the judges. Burns been crap the last couple of fights, but i seriously think the ricky burns who beat mitchell is one of the top lightweights in the world if not the best

Crawford is the goods, but he tends to stand around a lot, waiting to counter, I guess. Some times, he beats the fight out of a guy, and we get two guys standing around, looking to counter. He hits the gas when he smells blood alright, but against Klimov, he didn't get a whiff.

A Beltran rematch makes sense. Beltran deserved to win but Ricky was very unlucky to suffer a broken jaw near the start of the fight and deserves huge props for toughing it out. A rematch is fair for both parties
