Comments Thread For: CompuBox: Pacquiao Lands 48% of His Power Shots

Manny Pacquiao's speed, power and combination punching the difference. Pac landed an avg. of 23 of 66 punches per round, while Brandon Rios, who avg'd 25 of 74 per round in his previous six fights, landed just 12 of 42 per round tonight. Manny, working behind a steady jab (5 of 27 per round) landed 48% of his power shots. Rios managed to land 43% of his power shots- one at a time however.

Manny punch stats is good for a tune up -- as he faced a "toe-to-toe mexican-style" fighter who never took a welterweight bout until now...

790 punches and didn't fatigue. In other words, Pacquiao doesn't need Ariza.

And considering he never really stopped moving and was always dancing and spinning, it's encouraging that he didn't look to have broken a sweat. Rios was landing a lot of body punches in the clinch until about halfway through the fight, too.

Best sign in a while for Pac's stamina.

I think it's alright. Then I look at his age and the loss of his strength and conditioning coach (he didn't even get to use Fortune, I think he used his prior knowledge and Buboy, lol).
He ate more body shots than he needed to though just standing there with his side to Rios's right hand, free for really open body shots

That's not very impressive against a punch drunk punching bag like rios, what if rios actually moved his body to the side every now and then or moved his head?
