Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao in 2014 --- WHO WINS?

70-30 Floyd nowadays; maybe would've been 60-40 a few years ago. Manny would have to come in physically ready to fight and apply pressure for 100% of all 12 rounds. Floyd probably couldn't deter him with his power, and Manny could also prove more difficult to hit than Floyd's usual opponents (even Cotto cut his connects quite a bit) with his head movement and footspeed.

I favor Floyd because he looks fresher and because he's technically as sound as they come, but stylistically it's not his dream matchup. Floyd isn't Manny's dream matchup either, of course, other than the money.

The question would be whether Floyd can cut Manny's activity enough and land enough himself. If he allows Manny to press the action all night and can't deter him, Pacquiao has a chance. I'm a fan of both fighters, and this has always been a 60-40 or 70-30 at most type of fight for me. Manny is - and always has been - the most legitimate threat to Floyd there is, at least in terms of "class" but not necessarily style (obviously Floyd's least favorable matchup would be against somebody like Hearns, but we don't have anybody like that out there now).

I think Floyds too smart and too sharp for Manny. Not to mention all the physical advantages such as size, strength, and reach. I have always thought style wise Manny doesn't have enough tools to knock off Floyd. If Floyd is going to loose it's going to be to a tall rangy fighter with a SUPERB jab. A prime Oscar or a Vernon Forrest type.

Floyd is guaranteed 40 million a fight plus upside from ppv..he is getting close to 100 million regardless..hell he'd just have to split more with Manny...so Manny needs him not the other way around

Manny doesn't needs him. Manny makes $20-30 million per fight. They both need each other in terms of legacy, not in terms of money. Both would make the most money in their careers if they fought each other, period. I definitely want to see this fight happen, though. These are the only two dudes who completely dominate and outclass the opponents they face. Pacquiao beats the **** out of his opponents, while Mayweather outboxes them. Like I said, both mostly dominate their opposition. If Pacquiao can add some things to his strategy, then the fight can be as interesting as it was back in 2009. Both are getting older, and both have slowed down. If Manny can learn to use his offense, output, boxing ability, movement, angles, speed, power, then I think he has a good chance. He has to be hungry for the win and he has to come to fight, none of this survive nonsense most opponents choose to do against Mayweather. When they fight each other, each would be the toughest and best opponent of their careers.

You know, i get why people think Manny has a chance. He's fast and throws A LOT of punches that seem to have some power behind them. The problem for Manny though is Floyds counter-punching ability. Manny is not "Manny" when he fights skillful counter-punchers and Floyd is simply by far the best at that.
