the wins over pascal, taylor, kessler, dirrell, abraham, bute are much better than the ones for gatti or even ricardo lopez

minimumweight is a very different animal. there just aren't many great fighters who have been that small. most athletic men are much larger than that. lopez is probably the very best fighter of his size.

SMW is a relatively yuoung weight class, but there have been tons of men of similar size in history. they just split middleweight and light heavyweight down the middle. froch doesn't compare with the guys of his size. he's a tough guy who has made the best of his experience to become a pretty decent fighter. he's got quite a few good wins, but that shouldn't make you a hall of famer. he lost to the best fighters he faced, in a closer to prime kessler and ward.

kessler looked very old in the second fight.
abraham? middleweight, and not a great one. a limited nobody in a historic context.

taylor? another not so great middlweight, though he was lineal champion and beat an old hopkins. clearly all but shot when he fought froch

dirrell? i thought dirrell landed the more effective punches and won the fight, but he didn't behave like a pro. dirrell is another guy who looked much better when froch fought him, and he's done nothing.

bute? very hard puncher, but a bit of a mirage. he should have a stoppage loss to liberado andrade on his record to boot.

pascal later went on to success at 175 by winning the lineal title, but he's nobody to write home about himself.

we could obviously go back and fourth for quite a while. i don't think it's appropriate that the hall of fame be diluted based on the accomplishments of it's lowest tier of fighters. arturo gatti is an example of that. i don't want to see the quality of the fighters go down each year.

froch has a lengthy resume with good/very good wins. he was a good fighter. maybe a very good fighter at his best. he was certainly never great. let's not get crazy.

he gets a ton of credit for fighting everybody, and i think his wins get overrated because of that.

Froch has proven himself as an ATG in my books.. Really, even AtG is subjective but Froch has beaten enough top level opposition to be considered as a verified ATG fighter. He would give any super middleweight ATG in any era all they can handle and then some. He had Ward on shaky legs at the end of their fight --- Froch won the championship rounds, if that fight had been 15 rounds I couldn't see Ward surviving.

I agree with alot of your assessments of kessler being old in the 2nd fight etc

The bold is a really good statement,,

I just think in 2025 froch will be looked at as a guy that fought everyone, beat alot of other champions and his fan friendly style will get him in

you could very well be right. he'll be sorely missed, and celebrated the second he retires. especially in europe, he'll be remembered.. he never really crossed over in america, but he's still a huge figure among boxing people.

At the end of the day Froch won the fight, the ref made a decision all beit a bad decision but Froch had no say in what the ref decided. Groves lost, Froch has said he is up for the rematch so lets get it on.

Froch being a HOF'er is a toss up. He has some good wins but lost his HOF ticket fight to Andre Ward. I also feel that any SMW with decent lateral movement and good stamina has a chance of beating Froch as long as you have three impartial judges judging the fight.

In truth Froch's status in Britain only rose highly fairly recently. People give Froch credit for fighting anybody, as they should, but for a long time he really had to in order to make the kind of money he has been making more recently in Britain.

The ref jumped in in round 8 for no reason when froch was landing.

People just wanted to see the conclusion of fight of the year, but the ref saved George groves career.

he should be congratulated not harassed.
The ref saved Groves career, you sound just as ****** and deluded as froch himself.

Froch will get in for sure.

Lets not forget, he's not retired yet. 2-3 more fights left in him, maybe more depending on the money i would imagine.

I'd like to see him move up a weight, he's a pretty big smw as it is.

i think there was a genuine feeling that calzaghe would come back. when that faded away, they turned to froch.

they're paying froch so well these days that he's better off staying home than fighting on big TV networks in america. that's a popular british fighter.

i'm not as keyed into british TV politics as some of the others, but i'm also led to believe that froch had a hard time getting onto "sky" where the real money is made, and there is real exposure. he's been on there for a while now, correct?
