Ref ruined what could have been one of the greatest ever British fights. A good stoppage is one that everyone agrees was correct. That just felt wrong.

The British audience in the arena displayed fair play -- started with booing Groves and ended by booing Froch.
It's difficult to say if the ref was scared, dumb or corrupt. Or all of the above.

Groves needs to thank the ref.

5 seconds later and Groves would/could have been out cold on the ground, but since the ref stepped in too early, there's all this misconception that he was 'robbed', he was robbed of carrying on, not winning the fight ...

He lives to fight another day, to get a rematch and a pay day; 5 seconds later and he would be back to journeyman status from getting KO'd by a man who fought bravely to return from a round 1 KD, but let's pretend the first 6 rounds were the entire 9.

It works both ways. Groves hurt Froch far worse than Froch hurt Groves.

An 8 count (or several if Groves wanted a knee or two to clear his head) later and Groves could have landed big again and changed the momentum.

Groves wasn't saved any more than Froch was.

¿Your Chinney rep cost You the fight!? More like that piece of S H I T ref who looks like he had his money on Froch & was looking for ANY excuse to stop it(in Froch's favor) cost You the fight! Cause it was obvious Grove was clearly wining & even had Froch in worst condition yet the ref let it go & as soon as Froch got some good shots in(& note that Grove was fighting back) the ref stops it!! That's really shady on ref behalf..

This "would/could have been" logic doesn't apply to actual processes...

I've defended the UK scene before ... but this was a disgrace the ref ruined the fight. Also did I hear that one of the judges only had groves one round up ... wtf is that about?

I'm not dis*****g the the ref stoppage was bull**** early; it's just the outcome from it.

Headline reads;

"Froch completely outclassed, controversial TKO ..."

Which instead very likely would have read

"Froch recovers from a first round knockdown, to claw his way back and get a definitive stoppage against the brave Groves"

In the Bute fight the ref gave Bute a standing count under IBF rules. The same should have applied here. Foster should not be allowed on the big stage again. He should only officiate lower level fights where he can rescue journeymen from unnecessary beatings. Foster is too inept and too obese to operate at the top level.
