  • Comments Thread For: Haye, Khan Rip Ref Foster for Froch-Groves Stoppage

David Haye and Amir Khan were not in accord with referee Howard Foster’s controversial decision to prevent George Groves from continuing in the ninth round of his super middleweight title fight against Carl Froch on Saturday.

The two British boxing stars, who were sitting in the Sky Sports broadcast booth at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, England, strongly believed Foster stopped the clash prematurely.

“The referee grabbed George in a headlock and allowed Carl to him in the ribs,” Haye said. “This isn’t the WWE here. This is world-class boxing.” [Click Here To Read More]

Who did the ref bet on?? Froch obviously

Groves looked pretty good beating on a slow Froch. But Froch has always been slow and above average. Investigate the ref and his back account.

The ref was a joke, paid off by Hern to stop the fight soon as Groves looked like he was in trouble

I've always been a harsh critic of Khan but all respect to him on his stance on this. The BBBC is A TOOTHLESS TIGER and no longer fit for purpose when they constantly defend incompetent officials who should never be officiating a world title fight. If the ref has stopped the fight on the reasons he gave the fight should of been stopped when Carl was put down early in the fight and his legs where clearly shaky but never did ref even consider this- I wonder why that is? Groves had not gone down nor did the ref look into eyes a clear sign if Groves in trouble or not. The judges scoring was off Carl hardly one a round something does not sit right here- we all know Carl did not want this he was ordered by the IBF because Groves was mandatory ( a true hypocrite as he did the same to Joe Calzaghe when he was a rising contender)and Hearn has publicly said this is too early wanted this next year - if I was Groves I would demand a full investigation something does not seem right here.

I saw exactly what HAYE saw about the ref grabbling GROVES and FROCH hit him in the ribs and KHAN's right about ref always in favor of FROCH;i told before the fight was written waiting for a WARD rematch. HEARN screwed GROVES,not talking about the scorecards of two judges!!! Adonis Stevenson moved up in weight because FROCH didn't want give him a fight when he was mandatory by IBF and ADONIS showed the world how lucky FROCH has been. Now GROVES was considered a walk in the park but he was winning clear and landing ever he threw shots, the KD will be a nightmare for the rest of FROCH's life like the result of the fight. What can i say? I told so far FROCH isn't CALZAGHE,imagine FROCH with BHOP at 48..he is dead or Kovalev (if moves up like CALZAGHE did),FROCH get caught too easy with the right,KOVALEV'd put him to sleep seriously. DIRRELL...robbery,WARD played with him and GROVES...robbery;FROCH can't fight pure boxers!!!

something needs to be investigated even if this needs to be done externally as the BBBC ARE USELSS. Something does not seem right here it is so blatant its not even funny.

If there was corruption here like some are saying is it because the promoter paid the ref off? Or was it the bookmakers?

I felt it was an early stoppage, as by going by that stoppage, Froch could have been in danger of being stopped as he was taking punches as well, and Groves never went down.
Boxers don't seem to be allowed to show how tough their chins are nowadays. The ref thought Frochs punches had more impact, but I don't know how he judged that as groves never went down.

After a death of a boxer I said I wouldn't ever question a refs decision, yet I find myself questioning again. But not in a aggressive manners but just saying.

I did want Froch to win, but I would have liked to have seen Groves go down at least once.

I honestly dont mind either fighter or the stoppage. If you look prior to the ref "headlocking"/Seperating them George Groves arm goes completly limp. It seemed he was out on his feet. Could it have a few more punches sure it would have made the TKO more decisive. After the seeing the scorecards im glad it was called a TKO because Froch was on his way to a really unfair decision. Froch getting the TKO saved the judges but ruined the referee. But to me it seemed like Groves would out on his feet.
