When the only thing you can come up with is "Mayweather - Canelo or Mayweather - Guerrero " was even more boring then you know they know that the Pac-Rios fight wasn't as exciting as it was billed to be....so insert the name Mayweather and to them it saves the day again lol.
But but but but but, Mayweather is always a last resort.
Yeah it was a boring mismatch (with a shit undercard to boot), it became apparent that Rios had no chance of winning but Manny didn't have the killer instinct or KO power to take him out. This crap should have never been on PPV (glad I didn't spend a penny on it), but you had these idiots here claiming this would be can "all action fight between two warriors worth 70 bucks." LOL
if you have two fighter whose style is offense based *cough Rios and Pac ofc you're the "prediction" will be that it will be a high action fight? sense when has Rios or Pac fought defensive? you can't answer that. can you blame people for believing that it would be a high action fight? absolutely not. in your response to manny's killer instinct or KO power he wasn't even looking to knock him out, his game plan was to simply out box him.
look at Rios vs Alvardo, ppl thought it would be a high action fight and it was. not to say both had the same attributes but its safe to say both were of the same caliber. when you look at pac vs rios, pac had the significant speed advantage so that simply negates the statement of a "high action" because as you could tell from the fight rios couldn't take it. when speed is significant its apparent that exchanges would be difficulty between the two only because pac's speed dictated the fight.
For the casual fan, this fight card was 100x better than the Mayweather-Canelo fight card. I know this because I invite the same 20-30 people to my house each time there's a big fight.
During the Mayweather-Canelo match, Cano vs. Theopane was an okay match up with some excitement. The Ishe Smith and Carlos Molina fight put the entire room to sleep. Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse was extremely tense...for those who knew boxing in the room. Everyone else, who didn't pick sides, simply saw a normal boxing match. Mayweather and Canelo was a lot of pot-shotting, with Canelo being extremely frustrated and missing punches for twelve rounds.
This card, despite being ****tier for the boxing fan, was far more casual friendly. Verdejo battered his opponent to smithereens and Shiming absolutely made a mess of his opponent's face. Despite being mismatches, it was nice for the regular people in the room to see the brutality of the sport, and to see some really nice combinations land. They got to see some ridiculousness with Hamer quitting on his stool with the short, but somewhat exciting match. They finally got to see all out action between Dib and Gradovich. When it came to Manny's turn, they got to see Pacquiao throwing in some beautiful combinations and weaving out. Pacman barely pot-shotted and stayed in the pocket - only creating distance to dodge punches. Even though Rios was shut out, he gave my crowd some tense moments tying Pacquiao into the ropes. There were huge "OOOOH!s" whenever Pacquiao would land a monstrous combination or left hand. I couldn't say the same for Mayweather-Canelo.
I guess I don't have any point other than this was more worth my money for the entertainment value; all mismatches and poor undercards talk aside.
I thought it was a good fight but not a great one. It was exciting because all the punches thrown and I wondered if a knockout either way would happen. Especially after Manny's last fight. Because of how Manny's last fight turned he needed to be smart and box and he did just that.
