    Rios Strategy Against Pacquiao

Well, this fight went as expected, except for no Manny knockout within 6 rounds. Rios approach for this fight was very bad and his corner did not make any adjustments to strategy. I am curious to know what the hell they practiced for 2 or 3 months of training. Rios plan was to fight Pacquiao on the inside and that's it. Rios did not throw anything from a distance. He would only throw when inside, and insisted too much for inside fight. However, Pacquiao had good strategy of either taking a step back or turning Rios, which I figured he would do against a come forward guy like Rios. Rios would come in, Pacquiao turns him, Rios has to reset. Wash, rinse, repeat. Rios is a very limited fighter, maybe C/D level fighter. I was just surprised that there was no strategy or adjustments, considering they were fighting someone like Pacquiao.

Rios said he was no punching bag like Margarito. Well, at least Margarito came to fight and had some success.

Pacquiao looked good tonight, good boxing and movement. I don't know how he will do against the elite fighters, but he looked good tonight against Rios.

Pac's SPEED was too much. Even Rios admitted it.

Robert Garcia trained him, what you expect?

RObert: Brandon, go in there and get punched in your head, you saw how we did it with Margarito, just copy that

maybe their gameplan is to block mannys punches with his face until manny gets tired. then full press on the later rounds just like what lampley mentioned; martinez-chavez.

simple answer to this is their gameplan got shut down. thats what happens when u step in the ring against an elite. like what mayweather did to canelo and guerrero.

mannys movement was too much. it was like bam bam was fighting nightcrawler in that ring lol

Dissapointed that Rios gave up and considered just lasting the 12 rounds a win.

I expected him to open up and at least try for a hail mary KO, but I guess Pac was too quick and he ate punches all night. Put rios into a shell like Clottey.

I think Pac needs another fight to see where he is before a Floyd fight if thats even possible, he was dominant but v cautious tonight.

Fraud should make the fight now while manny still looks vulnerable.

              Rios only fights one way.

No trainer could have led him to a win today.

Fap-fap Rios's strategy was the "Chuck n duck". WTF was that? It's like they didn't train at all! Rios looked like Clottey out there! I'm glad I didn't waste money on this fight.

Pac's power is gone. But his defense went up. I think if he fights Floyd, his ko might have actually helped him. He wasn't carelessly aggressive as he was.

Bradley probably rescinded his rematch option and Marquez just drafted his retirement speech.

Yes, good points by all of you. I think Manny took it easy on this dude. He could have knocked him out. I believe Manny took it easy from rounds 7 or 8 onward. He was backing off a lot. The compassion by Manny is a sign that the guy in front of him is no threat to him. This is good move by Manny. So, Manny chooses to carry the fighter and almost fight at their level. So, when he fights tougher opposition he fights with more hunger and passion.

Rios is very limited. I always knew he was a C/D level fighter, ever since he was struggling against guys like Alvarado. No strategy, no intelligence, no skill.

To collect his check and not lose a eye in the process; anybody with an brain knew Rios had nothing for Manny.
