These are all good pointsDon't be shocked to see it happen next year. There's no truly marketable fights out there at 140-154 for Mayweather and he needs that to justify his ridiculously high purse. And Pacquiao? Nothing for him to lose at his point; the Marquez fights have all but destroyed the level of aura that he built up four years ago and he's on the way out.
This fight would have happened four years ago if Arum, Pacquiao and Mayweather truly wanted it. They could all afford to avoid it back then, but their options have dwindled considerably and it's way too much money to be made to simply completely ignore.Comment

Thing is, sadly Mayweather doesn't need to justify anything. He has a contract with a guaranteed amount of money. He no longer needs Pacquiao I'd say he needed Manny more in 09 than he does now.Of course you want the fight now Bob, you're running out of opponents.
Marquez doesn't want a 5th fight, no one really cares about a Bradley rematch, Alvarado lost, Cotto will be busy with Canelo, and/or Martinez, he basically have no one else for a Mega fight.
Time to cash Pacquiao out.
Manny is the one that needs him now as he is going broke sadly.
Be mad at Mayweather til the cows come home but it's Showtime's fault for paying him so muchComment

Who is he going to steal? What fighter at that weight would be able to sell a PPV? I can't think of one. They might tempt Marquez into a 5th fight but I doubt it, and I think people would buy the Bradley fight as his stock has gone up. I don't think there are any good 140 top rank guys ready to move up so Bob will have to get a non TR, non GBP fighter to jump in or try and steal a GBP guy.Comment

I agree. Manny is the one that needs this fight (financially) more than Mayweather. Which is why I believe they'll take the short money, and pretty much bend to Mayweather now.Thing is, sadly Mayweather doesn't need to justify anything. I wouldn't even buy it haha, not after all of the ***ery they put everyone through
Even if Pacquiao doesn't sign, there is a Cotto rematch, Garcia, Khan, Bradley, Marquez that could be possible next year.
Not the best fights, but when it comes to money Mayweather is still going to get paid so he has no obligation to do anythingComment

I would say be mad at Manny, not Showtime. If Pac hadn't gone out and gotten his ass kicked, there would still be buzz for the fight. At this point, outside of the few Pac worshipers that remain, there's no ral thirst for this one because Pac isn't seen as a legitimate threat. And there's way too much headache that goes into making tthis one for it to be just another fly-by-night 1.5m ppv sale promotion.Thing is, sadly Mayweather doesn't need to justify anything.
