  • Comments Thread For: Price Confident Sauerland Move Will Bring World Crown

David Price hopes to reignite his bid to become world heavyweight champion after joining forces with German promoters Team Sauerland.

Brothers Kalle and Nisse Sauerland announced their capture of the 6ft 8in Liverpudlian on Monday as they bid to guide him to elite level following a disastrous 2013.

The 30-year-old had looked destined for the top until shocking back-to-back stoppage defeats by American veteran Tony Thompson derailed his plans.

However, Price has since changed trainer, teaming up with David Haye's coach Adam Booth, and will now work with the powerful Sauerlands as he plots his way back to form.

There is no easy path to a world champion, even in this age of alphabet titles. price has a dodgy chin and an absolutely terrible engine. All this contract ensure is that he may get a Klit fight in the coming year, get KOd and end his career with a decent payday.

the key is good matchmaking. Maloney dropped the ball feeding him to a top 10 HW so soon. he went from the domestic scene to fighting a legit contender in his 16th fight. going from tom dallas & matt skelton to tony Thompson was a risky move that backfired. what was Maloney thinking? a 6'5 southpaw who lost to wlad klitschko twice was not the proper opponent for price. i'm assuming he will get a lighter touch in his first few bouts under the new regime. will he vacate his british belt instead of fighting chisora? will he fight his commonwealth mandatory lucas browne? i'd put him in with lucas browne but his new team might have different plans that means he vacates both titles...

I agree. it was too much to soon and the decision to rematch him immediately was just as bad. he should have had a couple confidence builders first. I give price credit tho for taking that risk

i don't understand why so many right him off. he has an eraser right hand which you can't teach. i remember when wladimir lost to sanders then to Brewster. he was written off by everyone but George foreman. i wasn't on this website then but from my 4 years of posting here i would be willing to bet he would have been getting called overrated, a bum, china chin, etc... just like everyone hyped tye fields, dimitrenko & now price then crapped all over him when he lost. people going back & erasing posts, etc. it was comical... where is all the lucas matt nuthuggers now? no avatars anymore? fuc*ing bandwagon jumpers. the new flavor of the month is GGG. david price is a B fighter as he beat all the C guys he fought so he still can be a factor...
