Gamboa has been too inactive but I think a fighter of his pedigree and with his experience can't be counted out. Maybe he does have some ring rust but with the type of skills he has I think training will shake that off.
I am praying for this fight. To me it's a 50/50 fight.
It's a new style for each other. And skill level. They have never faced the talent they'd be facing if it gets done.
Garcia has never fought anyone as slick and as pure of a boxer ad Gamboa. Almost a flawless fighter when he wants to be. If he doesn't come to be a clown and leave his hands down. Speed , power , very good defense.
And for Gamboa , Mickey will be a completely new test. A very fundamentally sound boxer , maybe not as athletically gifted as Gamboa but very good in every department. Very technical and strong , heavy handed , very composed.
I give a slight edge to Gamboa IF , he takes this fight serious. Stops all the nonsense and doesn't take off rounds and acts like a clown in the ring. Gamboa takes rounds off and clowns a little bit in the ring. This fight does more for Gamboa than it does for Mickey. Mickey will eat him alive if he takes this fight lightly.
Mickey is in a straight path doing very well and impressing people. If Gamboa can get the W I would say he has been tested pretty good. I'm not sure style wise and talent wise it gets any harder for Gamboa than this. So a W will just catapult him to new heights and stardom.
