Will Golovkin move up and fight Ward??

Him and Ward could fight on ppv and both would make career high paydays, this fight would put GGG on the mainstream if won or even put up a good showing. So do you think his team will pursue this fight? It appears Martinez's team is focused on Cotto for a money fight which i think they should be trying to fight the #1 contender at 160 in a unification bout which would also be a nice money fight for both

Eventually, if Ward stays at 168 and Golovkin keeps winning.

it doesn't make any sense legacy wise for either fighter. once ggg gets crowned king of the division, has a couple of defenses under his belt, it'll make a whole lotta sense. but given the way things are at middle, I'm not so sure dre will be around 168 long enough to make it happen.

I don't think they should go for Ward until they defeat Martinez. Martinez is still considered the top dog, he's earned that position, and someone has to beat him. Unless Martinez retires or openly admits to ducking GGG, it wouldn't make sense to bypass a division with potential opponents. Golovkin only has the WBA title and IBO. It's not like he's the undisputed champ.

Ward has cleaned out his division, GGG has not. There are still opponents left for GGG. If Ward is running out of opponents, why not take your chance at 175 and face Stevenson or Kovalev?

With Golovkin people say all the top fighters at 160 refuse to fight him, with Ward they say he has beaten everyone at 168..so if Golovkin cant get fights at 160 why not go to 168??? thats what ya'll are asking Ward to do except he can still get top fights at 168

Ward-Golovkin would do diddly-squat on PPV and they would be extremely fortunate if the fight generated 75,000 buys. I doubt HBO would be dumb enough to put that on PPV at this point. But then again, they did put Hopkins-Dawson I on PPV

But it's a fight that SHOULD happen next. There are no other viable threats to Ward @ 168 and Golovkin currently has more "buzz" than anybody @ 175. Compound that with the fact that GGG can't seem to get any of the other contenders OR the champ in the ring with him in his own weight class... seems like the most logical choice of an opponent for both men at this point are eachother.

Even if GGG does get schooled in lopsided fashion. He can always just go back to 160 and clean up. Maybe a newly vulnarable GGG without his 0 would help him become a more attractive opponent for the other title holders and he'll finally be allowed to clean out Middleweight.

Sergio is in no hurry to fight Golovkin. Quillin is on a different network.

If you ask me Andre Ward is a perfect opponent for GGG under these circumstances. If he loses he can say that it was just because of the weight, but if he wins he becomes a big star and the face of HBO.

I think if he can't get a unification bout with Martinez next year he should look for the Ward fight. I know Ward would be open to fighting GGG so that won't be a problem i'd rather see him and Martinez fight first.

Well the the problem is that Ward has way less options than GGG. He has more of a reason to move up.

It's widely accepted that he's cleaned out the division. (Does anyone care if he fights Stieglitz??)

Who is he going to fight? No one wants to watch a Bika rematch. No one wants to watch him fight Stieglitz in Germany.

Ward has one option at 168 and that's a rematch with Froch. There are two barriers to that, first is that Froch has a big fight with Groves coming up. If he loses, Groves team will do everything in their power to avoid a Ward fight.
If Froch wins, he'll want the fight to take place in his hometown which is something that Ward doesn't seem too keen about.

GGG has much more options at 160 than Ward has at 168. Ward could stay around and wait for GGG, but how long will that take? That could take a year, even longer. How many of those fights will HBO be willing to pick up? 175 on the other hand is up for grabs.
