  • Comments Thread For: Froch: The Pasting I Give Groves May End His Career!

Carl Froch claims he may just end the career of the "arrogant, cheeky, disrespectful" George Groves this weekend.

Froch puts his IBF and WBA super-middleweight titles on the line on Saturday when he faces challenger and fellow Briton Groves at Manchester's Phones4u Arena on Saturday.

The pair have exchanged verbal barbs ahead of the bout, which will be Froch's 14th title fight and Groves' first.

Froch, 36, has not been impressed with some of the things Groves, 25, has said but claims that has only motivated him more.

All this contrived "needle" was annoying from the start. They clearly don't have any problem with each other, but Hearn told them from the outset that it was going to be a tough sell for PPV, and they'd need to pretend to hate each other.

It's so transparent it's ****ing infuriating. Watch all the hugs and kisses afterwards, and not just the usual "bygones be bygones" you get after a fight.

Neither of them are doing themselves any favours, if you have to conjour hatred for somebody out of thin air you're going to sounds like a tw*t, and both have consistently.

Only thick people really believe the manufactured animosity between Froch and Groves.

        Froch

Something seems to be going on with Froch. Maybe it's something in his personal life. He doesn't seem to be excited about boxing, and I don't think he has enough money to retire yet. Who knows?. Good Luck, Carl.

I'm not really one to complain about an undercard but the Froch-Groves undercard is genuinely embarrassing.

We have a paper title defence for Quigg
          Joshua fighting a bin man
And the World class (lol) Crolla fighting Stephen Foster (Who's he?).

I really don't know whether to pay for this joke.

I think you're more or less spot on here, although I have a slight differing take on it,or at least maybe a little to add.

Here goes,Froch has been made and has looked bad against the likes of Ward and Dirrell,Groves is in that mould of Dirrell, now I think the only animosity Froch can have is that he has worked hard and tirelessly to get to where he is now from 24 months ago,and Groves can potentially undo all of the hard work by himself and Hearn, what I am trying to say is that after being reduced to zero after the Ward loss,Hearn managed to get Bute for Froch over Kessler, who was to face him had he have not been injured twice in the build up to the Stieglitz fight, the job Froch did on Bute let's not kid ourselves was waitin to happens it the Romanian by any heavy handed super mid, after what Andrade did to him the writing was on the wall.building on from the destruction of Bute, the British fight fans were fed Yusuf Mack, and like a sacrificial lamb to the slaughter he did what he was expected to for Froch, make him look like a human wrecking machine, then comes the return to ppv against Kessler,a fight sold on the action of the last 3 minutes of their first meeting 3 years previously ! Had Jimmy Montoya not told Mikkel he was behind on the cards before the last round, that round would never have been entertaining as it was either ! Some will argue the rematch was a masterclass others will agree it was the opposite of what Froch promised,an all out action affair,my take on it was the opposite of what Froch promised,I felt he hid behind the jab all night with his longer reach subduing the threat of Kessler early and stifling the action from the onset.

Now after all these victories, hard work, careful matching the return to ppv,Groves very realistically can and most probably will make Froch look like he did against Dirrell,I personally believe this is the sole reason Froch is angered, agitated and trying to sell the fight as a grudge match, something it clearly isn't.

I won't pay for it,I am considering going to a pub to watch it,although I am teetotal.

I feel for a ppv event the undercard is pathetic, with all these new signings of Hearn I can not help but wonder which of them would have added another angle to this event.

Have a feelin the youngan really got under Carl's skin but Froch is cagy and he's not ******. His career direction is swayed much more heavily in a loss than it is in a win so he will prepare to fight a smart fight, he's not really looking to paste my yutes cheek like he says. He will try and use his experience as the x-factor in the match and fight for a decision win whilst keeping his eye open for a K.O. opp
