Will Oscar de la hoya be the Roy Jr of 2006

In my eyes Oscar has nothing to win in this fight. He (like roy) is a future hall of famer. Has never been KTFO. Its not like he needs the money. He has nothing to prove. I don't get the point of the fight. Don't get me wrong I want to see it though. Does anyone else see Oscar getting embarrassed this year? Even if he beats Mayorga he wants another tough fight at the end of the year

yes, I think Oscar gets beat against Mayorga. I know..I know... everyone will say "Oscar is this and that..............." At the end of the day, Oscar is a human being/a man/a fighter that has not been in a professional prize fight in what will be 17 months. It's not like he can actually hurt Mayorga either.

Please tell me why a multi-millionaire, a guy 33 years old, a guy who already has trouble fading late in fights, would stay out of the ring for 17 months and come back against a guy who won't let you breathe for 12 rounds?

This is the fight to make your money on.

Win or lose Oscar is still a great champ.

I think him coming back is something he wants for himself. Fighting Mayorga is a smart move b/c he is a big name but i think DLH will win with ease... I see it going just like Titos comeback fight with Mayorga.

I like Mayorga but he is fighting one of the best boxers of all time in DLH. Just look what tito did to him. Guys like that are in a different level than Mayorga.

Two different styles of fighting. Just because fighter A looks good against Fighter B, it doesn't mean Fighter C will do the same. Tito came down in weight from blowing up to 200lbs during his layoff. He was a fully saturated middleweight. Tito's known to have one punch power, and look how long it took him to beat Mayorga.................with a body shot.

so i guess u think Mayorga will just blow DLH out of the water huh? lol
At that weight Titos power was overrated... DLH beat Tito by the way.
Oscar will out box him for hours... yeah it took tito a while to chop him down but he wasnt hurt in any way.. he beat him down round after round. Oh yeah that Oscar guy has a little power too

I'm not saying Mayorga will blow out Oscar. I'm saying that will be a tough fight for both of them. Oscar has been inactive for year and half. He should have picked an easier fight I think. If I was him I'd focus on Golden Boy. He has nothing to prove. So what is he fighting for. Mayorga has been beat so that isnt it, not the money, not the fame.

Yeah like i said I like Mayorga. Hes the last fighter in boxing. But if i had to put money on it i would say DLH 4 sure. Who else could he fight with such a big name and little skill?

I think their is a reason Tito and Oscar make thier comeback fights Vs. Mayorga
