  • Why Floyd could Beat Golovkin

While I don't see this fight ever happening due to the size difference and lack of name recognition on Golovkin's part, it is still an interesting match up. GGG at 154 would be the most dangerous fight for Floyd right now but I honestly believe it is a winnable fight for him.

My reasons for this opinion are simple: I don't believe Golovkins competition has been all that stiff. Knocking out Gabe Rosado and Matthew Macklin doesn't mean you are capable of beating the most skilled fighter in the world. GGG also hasn't faced anybody who can move and counter as well as Floyd. He would spend the whole night chasing Floyd around the ring looking for the perfect shot while never finding the opportunity to land one. I just don't see any flat footed, come forward, power puncher being able to stop Mayweather. You also have to take into account that Golovkin would be moving down in weight and might lose a bit of punching power due to being weight drained.

I believe Floyd's speed, skill, ring generalship, experience, and counter punching ability will win him the day.

Implying Golovkin is a flat footed, come forward power puncher with no boxing ability or other chracteristics...

Certainly wouldn't be a fight I'd count Mayweather out of, he's a proven great while Golovkin is anything but. However, I wouldn't hesitate to favor and pick Golovkin.

His jab is very good, one of the best in the sport right now, and Mayweather typically has a problem with guys with effective jabs who are capable fo working well off it. Golovkin is good at cutting off the ring, is smart with his shots, focuses on the body and certainly would against someone he knows would use a lot of movement.

Ultimately, the biggest factor is that weight classes exist for a reason. Golovkin is a solid middleweight who hits like a mack truck and has skill to back it up. Mayweather would probably be biting off more than he can chew. Maybe I'm wrong, and if in some hypothetical situation Mayweather fought and beat Golovkin, it would probably be the best win of his career. He certainly is capable of winning it.

That's easy to say, when Floyd's not actually fighting MWs, and MWs that have the exact style necessary to beat Floyd.

I've debated this topic to death in the other thread, that's my $0.02.

I'm not gonna call posters that think Floyd wins, delusional, but I seriously think they have a superman complex with Floyd.

I'm inclined to listen to the man that's known to prop up Floyd more than the most die hard Floyd groupies, over some random Floyd groupies that think Floyd's Superman in disguise.

People who just say floyd's speed, skill, defense will win the day really have not sparred or boxed!!

Yeah floyd has those in spades but there's a limit to where those don't matter in anymore. And that's when you are up against a much larger man with skills and knows how to fight. THAT'S WHY THERE ARE WEIGHTCLASSES!!

People think that mayweather is going just to potshot and is gonna land everything while golovkin will miss all night?. Mayweather's punches would not bother GGG at all and will just walk mayweather to the ropes and batter his body. Goodluck trying to potshot a much larger man with an iron chin. The weight of golovkin's jab alone would be hard to deal with for a small man like mayweather let alone those hooks to the body.

Golovkin folds guys that weigh 20 to 30 lbs. heavier than mayweather. Those hammers hitting floyd's smaller body would be sickening to watch.

This fight will never happen cause cherrypicker won't take a risk, and GGG is a huge risk.

If cherrypicker ever fought GGG, you can be sure he will weight drain GGG like mofo, make GGG wear pillows for boxing gloves, and fight with both his hands tied behind his back

This video does not discount anything I said. Mayweather sr. simply stated the size differential would be too much if they fought at 160. That's why I stated this fight would only be viable at 154. I think at 154 Floyd has a chance at beating GGG.

As a Floyd fan, and all of that other crap they refer to him as.

Why would Floyd fight GGG at 154 if he would not fight the SMALLER man Canelo Alvarez at 154??

                  Makes no sense.

                    THIS!!!

Skills can only get you so far. A big unskilled man might lose to a smaller skilled man, but a BIG SKILLED MAN, ALWAYS BEATS A LITTLE SKILLED MAN.
