not hating but getting 2 million to hug all night?
HBO wouldn't pick up Marquez vs Segura which was a 1000000 better than this fight and wouldn't have cost as much.

Great performance by Ward. Rodriguez didn't make weight, entered the ring as a crusierweight and wanted to make the fight ugly. Ward dealt with it masterfully.
Folks who call fighters like Ward "boring" simply don't understand that at Ward's level, you're going to encounter opponents who come into the ring with no intention of fighting a real fight. Ward demonstrated how you put these guys in their place.

Ward looked good, especially coming off a long lay-off. I think Rodriguez found on really early on that Ward was too much and just tried grappling as much as he could.

The ref did give the strictest, most stern warning to both fighters in skipping all that and going straight to the taking of a point. He was basically saying to both fighters, "Enough of this (rap!"
It worked too, as both fighters changed their stances on extreme dirty/retaliation tactics. Andre Ward acknowledged as much in the post fight interview.
Remember, it's not a street fight and the ref is there to keep the boxing as civil as can be. And in this instance, he did.
