He agreed to the fine, don't ya'll in your own opinion think one fine was more than enough? I'm sorry but I hold stars like Ward to a higher regard, don't like to see stand up people tied into these sort of intangibles...Rodriguez if he loses is done, a journeyman stepping stone at best..he messed up yes but it's not like he was 178 and said I don't care at the initial weigh in...he gave up a cut that should be good to go.

$450K is one fine not two per the rules of the WBA. I would love for my lawyer to negotiate more money for me if the opportunity presented itself. If he didn't I would find one that will.

You guys are crazy..........you don't reach an agreement, make a deal and re-nig on it at the last minute. If he was so tight with the rules, he should have said this yesterday. He wants to mess with Rodriguez' "cheese" yet all he is really doing is messing with HBO's "cheese". They are gonna put the hammer down on homey and show him who is really in charge. Remember, HBO was picky with Ward from the beginning, they aren't going to take any schit from him.

Dude Rodgriguez was never going to make 200K for this fight! Wow...get your **** together man! He signed the damn fight for 1 million dollars. The 200k was the penalty that supposedly they agreed on that Rodriguez would pay out of his purse. Can't you people read???

I'm not sure you have the numbers right here. Rodriguez originally was going to make 1 Million so I have no clue what the hell you are talking about. 200k is the penalty for not making weight or so we heard that was the agreement they came to. When is the last time Rodriguez will make 200K? Well, he made 600k in his last fight. So, 40k coming out of his pocket? Again, I have no clue what you are talking about.

Anyhow, can someone tell me how the WBA rules apply if the title is no longer in play? That is the part that I don't understand. I just don't understand that.

It's a rule that pertains to the WBA sanctioning the bout. Even if it isn't for a title anymore, the rule applies to title fights, which this was, initially. If the guy misses weight and refuses to weigh in a second time, the title is no longer at stake and as a penalty, the guy has to pay 45% of his purse to the opponent.

The title not being at stake is part of the penalty but the fight is still sanctioned by the WBA and was originally sanctioned as a title fight, thus the penalty applies.

This still doesn't make up for the fact that this should have been addressed yesterday if that was how they wanted to pursue it. Not agree to something else and change it the next day.

So now we see Ward is indeed quite a jerk it seems. I hope HBO shows him the door if he really does think he can cancel out last minute. The guy can't draw a dozen rodents outside his home town, and even there it takes a stacked card to fill the venue. Maybe he needs to learn how to wake up and smell the coffee.

I just spelled it phonetically, that's not a word I actively use and I didn't bother to look it up (there were no racial undertones implied by me spelling it that way). I can see why you mentioned it but by no means was it meant to suggest anything.

The state commission penalty and WBA penalty completely conflict with each other, how can you penalize a guy 65%?
