Stieglitz: Groves ducked me, possible unification against Froch

Robert Stieglitz says Carl Froch is simply too good for George Groves

"I'll try to watch the fight here in Germany, because it's in my division and Carl Froch, as the WBA and IBF world champion, is one of my possible opponents in the future for a unification," he told skysports.com.

"Groves was scheduled for a fight with me 18 months ago, but he quit.

"In this fight Froch is my favourite. He has the better technical skills, more experience in tough fights and with his long hands he'll dominate the fight.

"Groves may be a good boxer, but he is young, with less experience and he needs fights with good opponents in his record to develop.

"So, Froch will win clearly by points and after my successful mandatory defence against Arthur Abraham, in the beginning of 2014, the winner Froch could be a possible challenge to fight!"

I don't think Groves ducked him, but that injury was a blessing in disguise. Stieglitz is the type of limited but sturdy, heavy handed and experienced pressure fighter Groves did well to avoid at that stage of his career. Actually even now I wouldn't be confident in picking Groves against him.

Froch vs Stieglitz would be a good fight. I think Froch would win, but not as easily as some might expect.

I've been wondering why Ward-Stieglitz hasn't come up. Seems like one of the few legit challenges left at 168 for Andre.

At least he's looking to unify. He changed my opinion on him. I always got the impression he just wanted to babysit the title and make local defenses.

168 might actually heat up again. If GGG can't fight Martinez he'll probably move up and Chavez will bring fans and excitement to the division.

If Ward, Froch, GGG, Chavez, Stieglitz and Bika can be mixed and matched next year I would be happy.

            Ha I smell bull****...

Funny how he mentions nothing until the week before Froch vs Groves.

I have a lot of admiration for Stieglitz, his activity and tenacity wins him a lot more fans than the style of Ward and the lazy unprofessional approach of Chavez Jr.I don't believe Froch would have any desire to fight Stieglitz as he would be out pointed and outworkd in every round.

Stieglitz in a wide and convincing decision win, with a few scares along the way.I don't see Stieglitz stopping him.

No way man. It wasn't long ago that he lost to a washed up Abraham. He's an honest, hard working fighter, but Froch is a level higher

Froch knocks out Stieglitz. He has lost to every decent fighter he has faced bar Abraham who beat him the first time.

Really dude ? Have you seen his work rate since he lost and regained his belt ? He's like a different animal since the Abraham loss, and even then he was exceptionally fast and fleet footed.

No offence dude, but this is a bad fight for slow and static Froch, his jab wouldn't work against Robert as it did Mikkel Kessler.I'm sorry but I got the pride of Germany all the way in this one,no way Froch takes the fight.Groves ducked Stieglitz for Froch,no way Groves wants any either.
