Comments Thread For: Devon Alexander: Porter has sparring partner mentality

Devon Alexander wasn't supposed to share the spotlight for his fall bout with Shawn Porter.

The fight was originally slated to headline a Showtime card on Nov. 30, but will now be on the undercard of Zab Judah-Paulie Malignaggi on Dec. 7 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

No matter, Alexander (25-1, 14 KOs) plans on stealing the show in his IBF welterweight title defense against Porter. [Click Here To Read More]

Haha, yea I'm sure many Manny sparring partners have had to "let Manny win" in the ring.

Nah, these guys use thicker gloves and head protection to begin with.

Alexander is obviously full of it. Sparring with Manny I'm sure has helped Porter improve as a fighter. Not that he's likely good enough to beat Alexander, but one can only hope.

I like Alexander. He gets a bad rap on NSB. Think he's a good fighter

Steal the show? What, like how he 'stole' the show against Randall Bailey?

most of the current champions were sparring partners when they were new up-and-coming fighters, look at provodnikov he was once pac's sparring partner and mares was gonzales's. you have to start somewhere, spar with the greats and the champions too pick up and learn more.

Yeah, But Porter is a bum. His best win was againts a shot Alfonso Gomez. Alexander might be a boring fighter, but he fought and defeated better Oppositions.

u hear that all you young boxers out there, Devon "doesn't go around sparring," he doesn't "have that mentality"
