Barker didn't knock him down lol neither did Margarito I don't think. Macklins was a a trip and push lmao.
GGG Ain't on the level of a PRIME MACKLIN anyway
See these Three C level fighters stay in front of Sergio, tagging him and tagging him, exposing his lack of defense, lack of elusiveness, and then think Sergio would beat Golovkin? I don't get it.
I mean sure, yeah, "He stopped 'macklin and Barker doe". That's the least he could have done after absorbing 40% of Macklin's power punches and 42% of Barkers thru 11 rounds, and who knows how many of Margarito's punches, looking like a complete punching bag. Those bums even broke his nose and knocked him down
I've presented you with irrefutable facts, statistics and pwns guys, its impossible to argue against! /Thread closed
First of all, I notice this is a reply to another thread so I see where you're coming from.
Anyhow, Margarito, Macklin, and Barker are not C level fighters. They are all B level fighters (prime Margarito could be B+). Geale was the considered the top middleweight contender when Barker beat him recently, so that speaks well of Barker. Macklin has been a top 10 middleweight since 2008 or 2009 and I think he was ranked as the #3 contender when Sergio beat him.
Sergio was very raw when he fought Margarito, he started boxing late and had only been a pro for 2 years when he fought Margarito (who'd been a pro for six years). It was also Sergio's first fight outside of Argentina (16th fight overall) and Margarito's 12th in the US (25th overall). Margarito was only a year away from his first title fight.
Barker and Macklin both took a beating from Martinez (hence why they both got stopped), I thought neither guy could have won more than 1-3 rounds each. Barker lost pretty much every round, but occasionally landed some decent right hands while using the turtle defense. Macklin (fighting conservatively) forced Martinez to initiate the action, which led to some boring rounds until Sergio picked up the pace and knocked him out. He won maybe the fifth round and the 7th because of the "knockdown" where he really just tripped Sergio as he was moving back; Macklin actually took a beating before and after the knockdown.
Sure Sergio got hit with 29% of Macklin's punches (only 134 landed) and 38% against Barker, but it's not that unusual. Keep in mind that Bika (who landed over 200 punches) hit Ward with 33% of his punches and 40% of his power punches. Abraham landed 47% of his punches on Ward and 60% of his power punches and yet Andre Ward is considered an excellent defensive fighter (I believe he is). Mayweather got hit by 40% Castillo's punches and 46% of his power punches (203 landed). Also, Bradley (in a fight he dominated) was hit by 34% of Marquez's punches and 40% of his power punches.
GGG needs to fight fighters with different styles. It will be good for his development , even though he's already 30+. Everybody can't be a face first bums coming at him. Rosado is different but he's a B- maybe B+ on his best day. But all these other guys won't prepare GGG for Ward or Froch for that matter.
Bro, GGG saw a gazillion different styles in the amateurs and he sparred with a lot of elite pros (Canelo, Quillin, Chavez, Cloud, Kovalev, Mosley, Afolabi).
