Canelo's handspeed is seriously overrated IMO. He throws one counter and then combos when he knows he has the advantage. Didn't see many against Trout or Mayweather, wonder why? He wasn't so much bigger and better than his opponent. When he faces an opponent his skill level, he tends to wait more and be more patient. You're not going to beat Cotto like that. Only Floyd has, and Canelo isn't half that good.

He won't have to be patient vs Cotto like he did vs Floyd; Cotto is going to let him be instinctive since he doesn't fight well going backwards and when tries that he tires out. He's going to bring Canelo the target for him to get off his combo's

        it's this simple.

prime for prime, though, we know who gives who the business.

He was patient against Cintron, Rhodes, Hatton, etc. He's always patient, especially early. Difference about Trout and Floyd fights, he never got the advantage and became the aggressor. Cotto's stamina and physique looked much improved against Rodriguez. Roach will come up with a gameplan that he can execute to beat Canelo.

I've never seen Canelo tee off on a guy that wasn't a WW or JWW. Cotto isn't a huge JMW, but he's no weak guy in there. Canelo won't just outmuscle him so easy. Ask Floyd how strong Cotto is.

The Rodriguez fight didn't last long enough to know if his stamina is bad or not; when he's going forward he usually doesn't gas but when he as to retreat is where the problems will be. At a point in both fights Trout and Floyd had to retreat vs Canelo the difference is they are comfortable in doing that Cotto isn't.

That's mental as well. Before, Cotto would back up when his power didn't produce immediate effects. Roach stressed in camp he needs to put work in on his opponent first and they will be slowed down. Both did have to retreat, but it wasn't like they were avoiding a GGG like offensive onslaught. Canelo throws monster shots, against Floyd they always missed and against Trout he missed about 3/4 of the time.

Nothing Canelo does concerns me for Cotto. Nothing.

I know this is nbs but I wouldn't base my prediction on Canelo being outboxed by Mayweather or Cotto destroying Delvin. It's a tough fight to predict but Canelo is a much more natural jr middleweight and ( I might be mistaken) a reach advantage

Both Trout and Floyd was uncomfortable getting hit Canelo; I couldn't see it live for Floyd but going back and watching I could tell he hid well. Trout has solid chin but Canelo hurt him whenever he landed. But in all it's a fight I would love to see both guys have a real shot to win. I see Canelo having a higher ceiling from this point forward. If this was 08 I would pick Cotto hands down.

That's why they fight the fights We'll see what way Cotto decides to go.

Yep Cotto is in the best position in all of boxing. If he does like a Showtime deal he can fight on HBO; if he doesn't like a HBO deal he can go to Showtime. He has them in a bidding war to outdue the other. He's not tied to either Golden Boy or Top Rank or hasn't burnt any bridges with both. I don't know how Hershamn would feel if he took the Canelo fight tho.
