Comments Thread For: Alexander: Khan's Team Knew I Was a Big Risk!

Devon Alexander is trying not to dwell on his fight against Amir Khan falling through.

Alexander and Khan were tentatively scheduled to square off Dec. 7, but the fight didn’t materialize and Alexander (25-1, 14 KOs) instead will defend his IBF welterweight title against Shawn Porter (22-0-1, 14 KOs) that night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The St. Louis native declined to speculate on Khan’s decision to go in a different direction on a conference call Tuesday, though he indicated Khan’s handlers might’ve considered a fight against him too risky because England’s Khan (28-3, 19 KOs) is a potential opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KOs).

Not a fan and never will be, but I genuinely feel for Alexander's situation and it must be frustrating for him to have all these big-name (Khan) or would-be-big-name (Brook) opponents constantly leave him in the lurch.

If he somehow gets another belt next year, I'd like to see him against Broner, Danny Garcia, Thurman, Soto Karass, or even a Bradley rematch if the latter ever leaves Top Rank.

        shut up, alexander.

you've done nothing but call out the khans, brooks, randall baileys of the world since you quit against bradley.

you disgust me. your style is evertying that's wrong with american boxing. you fight like an amateur. i generally hate watching you fight, and hope for you to lose.

        retire.

I like alexander but he wanted no part of khan when khan was beasting in 140. I think anyone who fights khan has a good chance of beating him and i think alexander knows this.

Not really when you look at who the sure thing was and who the possible is... A chance to fight on potentially THE biggest promotion of 2014 with a huge payday, or be part of a triple header in a neutral venue against someone who no one likes to watch box and is tricky. Hmmmm....

Khan did bail out on an Alexander fight, but it was to get a Mayweather fight.
Alexander would have done the same thing.
He's just butt hurt his name didn't get called for the Mayweather fight.

Cong**** bro. You've done nothing but emphasize what the possibility may be. But it's possible Floyd will realize the entire world will call the fight a joke, (which it most definitely is) and force him to look elsewhere. Leaving khan with the label (ducker), which he will absolutely be.
