The alphabet titles are titles from WBC, WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO. The organizations that mostly have abbreviated names. Hence the nickname alphabet title. It's something like the WBC North American Latino champion or some shit.

              Alphabet Title Holder

It determines which organization collects sanctioning fees from the fighter. After the WBC and WBA, I quit trying to remember who the champions were a long time ago. Now we have Interim, Diamond, and I just read something about Floyd Mayweather being named a Supreme Champion by the WBC. Heck, even Butterbean held some type of four round heavyweight title made up for him.

It means he holds a world title recognized by one of the four most respected organizations. The WBC, the WBA, the IBF, and the WBO. None of them are very respected but they are all we have. It is almost impossible for one fighter, even a great fighter to be recognized by all four of these groups as the champion at the same time. If a good fighter loses a belt he can often win another belt from one of the other three groups soon enough.
