Comments Thread For: Booth Confirms Southern Area Decision Over Groves

Adam Booth has told BoxingScene that the BBBoC's Southern Area Council ruled in his favour earlier today in the first stage of his dispute with former charge George Groves. Booth used to train and manage "Saint George", but David Haye's long-time trainer ended their successful and seemingly watertight partnership in September. He acknowledged the verdict when asked if the Southern Council had upheld his claim to a managerial cut of Groves's purse.

Since it was Booth who dismissed Groves, I don't see how he's still entitled to a 'manager's fee'. He's not even managing him any more. WTF?

Agreed. Booth terminated the contract not the other way round. AFAIK he doesnt want to train or manage George. So to get such a huge cut of his purses until 2015 is unreasonable. Booth is a piece of work,no doubt he timed the hearing perfectly. An appeal would have to be 3 days before the fight. Coincidence. Doubt it.

I don't think it is quite as simple as Booth dismissing Groves.

There is a lot that has gone on behind the scenes which we don't know about.

All of this HAS to affect Groves one way or the other.

It could mess him up or spur him on. We'll see.

Until 2015 is a major point...

How can you have a manager who you don't talk to for 2.5 years?

Not sure November 2013 is going to be a great month for George.
