Agree with this. I really don't think there's any real chance of him retiring though. Even if he's at the point where he hates the sport he can still earn more money from it than he can doing anything else. And he just had his first kid born so that probably matters more than anything else.

No, but at age 30 or whatever, small guys do start to slow down and get off prime. So, what needs to happen is to pick 2 fights a year max. The old days fighter did more and thus the age 30 thing was known, but now, top fighters can afford to fight for a lot of money tend to do 2 fights, which helps recover from injuries etc... as well as time to research your opponent, do promotional work and stuff. If you fight 4 times a year, you're in camp for at least 8 months if you do 8 week camps, or if you do 10 week camps then that's 10 months... so that leaves little time for else.
He also did the right thing by actually going to Garcia's gym for 8 weeks or whatever as opposed to 2 weeks, but IMO he needs sparring partners that are similar. The Garcia gym didn't seem to get any good south paws that were small.Comment
