A career sm,longest reign and one of the best at it,vs someone whose never fought at it.

Erm... I'm fully on the triple G train bu that's another daft one.

Prime smw Calzaghe had a good chin. GGG whilst a good boxer is still a tad too crude.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves gents. Take a deep breath.

As of now, prime Calzaghe has every advantage except power over Golovkin and that wouldn't come into play, particularly at 168. What would come into play is GGGs much slower hands, feet and lesser work rate. He'd get beaten pretty clearly going by what he's done so far.

Going by past performances, Calzaghe managed to dominate all the champions he fought that resembled GGGs style and I don't see that much changing. Just had too much versatility and what does go for GGG, Calzaghe was bloody good at negating.

GGG was out worked and outboxed by an ancient, powerless, smaller, never really that good to begin with Ouma.

Right hook on both occasions, GGG's bread and butter.
Flash knockdowns from which he got up to dominate and stop both, Mitchell in that same round.

Mitchell had power that rivalled GGG too. In fact, his raw power was probably a fair bit better but he didn't have as good technique as GGG. He was a good champion and a great puncher Mitchell.

He's not even the middleweight champion. He's a titleist. I couldn't even tell you who he beat for the belt

I thought this was a serious thread until I read the crap above.

MY guess is the fight is at 168, so I'll take Calzaghe.

my post suggested the fact that GGG never fought at 168 so to rank him with HOF/ATG SMW is... nonsense.

Hope this clear up the things for you, lol..

Hmm how about we wait and see how GGG would do at 168 before we start the Mythical Matchups! Golovkin is one of my favourite fighters but he's just started testing the water at 160 in terms of credible opponents!

I love GGG, but to say he's the best MW since Hagler....did we just forget all about the reigns of Jones and Hopkins? Do we throw Toney out the window? Martinez still has a more impressive resume at 160 than Golovkin at this point. Let's pump the breaks lol could he get there? Possibly. Has he done enough? No way

You guys completely missed the obvious, this is a trick question!!!! A prime Calzaghe would have pulled out of the fight three to four times, i.e Glen Johnson. The correct answer is No One Wins since Joe would have never taken then fight.
