Comments Thread For: Walters' Trainer: Nicholas is Too Much For Donaire

Job Walters, father and trainer of WBA featherweight champion Nicholas Walters (23-0, 19KOs), was not impressed with Nonito Donaire's ninth round stoppage of Vic Darchinyan on Saturday night in San Antonio, Texas. On the same card, Walters blasted out Alberto Garza in four rounds.

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes both Walters and Donaire, wants to match the two of them in 2014. The elder Walters believes his fighter will be too much for the Filipino Flash, who started his career at flyweight and now finds himself in the dangerous featherweight ranks.

So he is saying Donaire and Darchinyan are counter punchers and take too long. While Walters fights aggressive, well that sounds like what a counter puncher wants. Garza is no Darchinyan but this guy Walters is talented and does possess power. Donaire-Walters is a 50/50 fight to me.

Walters is aggressive with decent skill, but his slower speed will be his downfall while he comes in.

Donaire should go for Walters for his 5th division title.

Was he upgraded to full or was it just an interim?

After the amount of punches Donaire ate from Darchinyan, it isn't crazy to think that he will get hurt by a real featherweight like Walters...

I was surprised how he reacted. He looked like he was having flashbacks and just kept taking the same shots and doing nothing lol
