Top middleweight contender Matthew Macklin (29-5, 20K0s) is waiting for a late replacement to get secured after Willie Nelson (21-1-1, 12KOs) withdrew with an elbow injury that is going to keep him out of the ring until the first quarter of 2014.

They were scheduled to meet on December 7th at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. HBO was televising the fight as part of the card being headlined by Guillermo Rigondeaxu vs. Joseph Agbeko.

Lou just signed Sergio Mora so why not him. He's a top middleweight and former champion who's never been KO'd. I feel Mora will make Macklin look bad and after a loss to GGG Macklin's people might not want that. Nonetheless hopefully Lou can make fight. Mora by UD!

I don't know how Lou will feel about that...but if he has no other options i can see him doing it

I think Mora beats Macklin easily, but I got a feeling Dibella wants to make money with them separately. Equaling Golovkin's resume would be a good way for Mora to finally land the fight.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I really felt Macklin would do well against Nelson. Macklin is a good puncher and talented fighter and I didn't like how Nelson fought on his back legs in the last fight. I really felt this would be a solid Macklin win and cement him in the top 10 at 160lb and give him a chance to put together a fight against another solid opponent.

I consider Macklin about as good as Murray, maybe rank him 7th or so at the 160lbers. GGG is just that good in my mind.
