Comments Thread For: Arum Plans Gold Medal Triple For February in Macau

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum informed BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard that he plans to stage another great fight card for February in Macau which will feature two world title fights and three Olympic gold medalists he recently signed up.

He said featured on the card aside from China’s popular two-time Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming will be Japanese London Olympic middleweight gold medalist Ryoto Murata and Russian light heavyweight gold medalist also in London, Egor Mekhonstev.

Not sure about Shming but Murata and Mekhonstev are very talented, looking forward to the progression of their careers

Good to see Shafikov finally get a title shot as well but I think Bob should put another fight like that on there because the 3 gold medalists opponents will most likely suck.

Don't care about SHiming... but Murata is alright... really excited about Egor.
Don't know how Murata is going to fight there. JBC said you need 3 fights before fighting outside Japan right? He has a fight upcoming in Dec... maybe another in Jan?

Looks like an interesting card. Shafikov just may be able to make it a watchable fight with Vazquez. Then you get Murata and Egor. Hope HBO2 is onboard

I don't know what Arum is going to be able to do with Shiming. 112 is arguably the deepest division in boxing. He would get murdered by Yaegashi who isn't a big puncher for 112. Imagine what Estrada, Segura, Gonzalez, or Viloria would do to him. All he title holders all solid fighters and the only way Shiming becomes champ is if they stip one of these guys and he fights some can for the vacant strap.
